less than a grain of dust was a performance installation that took place in the Yale University Art Gallery in May 2017, in response to their groundbreaking retrospective of light art pioneer, Thomas Wilfred.

less than a grain of dust offers a program of musical works spanning 800 years –– from the monophonic chant of 12th century polymath and Christian mystic Hildegard von Bingen to the electrified chamber music of contemporary Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho –– in dialogue with Thomas Wilfred's Lumia. Gallery+less than a grain of dust renders musical stillness, warmth, and the emergent tensions between chronology and cyclicality.

Featuring works by Kaija Saariaho, Hildegard von Bingen, John Cage, Earle Brown, Henry Purcell, Guillaume Machaut, and Alexander Scriabin.
